SIP 2008: Suggestions

Sir,

I have 3 points.

1. Every centre must be a SIP centre

2. OW&SSA/SPAs effectively converted to SIP

3. Not weekly meets but fortnight meets are enough

Now the explanation:

POINT 1.

When OW, SSA/SPAs & Live Projects are Centre focussed, what is the need for our students to go to SIP centres away and feel alienated...the emotion of corporate attachment is missing
just do the work for work itself. In INC Nellore, a lady student brought lakhs of business with good telugu speaking skills, for she leveraged on her strength in the town. Being fatherless, she could do it. The notion of looking at SIP as something different needs reconsideration. This also calls for greater involvement of the Centre Heads [CH] & Faculty at the Centres, who till now are under "don't know" attitude all through the 4-month period.

POINT.2

Faculty and students at a particular Centre are associated with the market all through OW&SSA/SPAs & Live Projects, this can be effectively converted for SIP gains, and later Placements. But, the process now is different, it means sudden break in the bridges we have built for the whole of one Semester. So, there is every need to make the CH and Faculty at centre responsible for SIP of their students. This also means lessening the burden on parents' purses, for SIP far away means pumping money to fund their kids SIP campaign.

POINT 3

When the student is trying to adjust with the corporate environment and understanding the market's expectations he needs time to settle down, and focus on his work. Calling the students to SIP centre every weekend for feedback and training inputs really disturbs the momentum with which the SIP student is moving. So, better we create a congenial environment for our students to focus more on the company and actual work expected of them there, then in giving feedback and facilitating training at their centres.

INC Raipur - T&P-HQ's Message to all

Khushbu Shahu,

Please understand two things,

You can send your SSA/SPAs reports directly to HQ. But, see that a copy is marked to your Regional OW Coordinator [Leni mam], and feedback given to you.

You should highlight all your SSAs/SPAs achievements at our weblog http://teamcentres.blogspot.com. So that I can call up the Regional Office and take the feedback, and ask for the SSA/SPA details. Even the Director, INC-HQ can view details of your SSA/SPA as posted on the weblog.

What is of primary importance is providing for greater visibility to your efforts in generating, and promoting the process of SSA/SPAs.

Second, don't report to your RO or HQ those SSA/SPAs, which are yet to start. All SSA/SPAs in process and those completed only need to be reported.

Regards,

INC Khozikode leads the way - Short Paying Assignments

Dear All,

I am posting here details of the most comprehensive SPA done by Semester III students of INC Khozikhode, as sent by Mr.P. Harindran.

What is unique about this SPA is that, it reinforces what is taught in the classroom [market mapping], and provides enough of marketing exposure to Semester III students lined-up for Placements 08.

This SPA faithfully fulfills the mandatory stipulation, that all premium students should do one SSA/SPA, as part of their preparation for the Placements that are to start from early September 07.

Unique Operation Workout Exercise: Creativity and purpose of classroom teaching

Dear All,

The Executive Summary, July 07 for OW&SSA/SPAs is now in process at T&P-HQ. The process and analysis of individual and collaborative OWEs is bringing forth how creative and different our Faculty can be, in imparting theoretical concepts to our students.

One is the OWE from INC Eluru [RO AP-East]...details as follows

Faculty: MNS Kishore Kumar
Semester: I
Domain: QM
Topic: Probability

Operation Workout Exercise: Toss a coin for four times and find out exactly how many times the tail comes [atleast 2 times] All the tails should form part of work.

Classroom towards OWE: The Faculty wanted to provide clarity in understanding of what 'probability' means and provide a practical understanding of the formula NCRxP[to the power of R] and Q [to the power of N-R]. This little of creativity on the part of the Faculty, would mean clarity of concepts to new/weak students, and guarantees in the later day a greater understanding of actual applications, once in the field.

Operation Workout: Tryst with Destiny - Happy Independence Day

Dear all,

"Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance. It is fitting that at this solemn moment we take the pledge of dedication to the service of India and her people and to the still larger cause of humanity.

[These resounding words are from Jawaharlal Nehru's "Tryst With Destiny" address to the Constituent Assembly of India in New Delhi on the night of August 14th and 15th, 1947]

Taking inspiration from this historic occasion, at INC let us endeavor and persevere to rise up to expectations of our students, parents, corporate/industry and the whole world.

Happy Independence Day

Mr. DP Chaudhuri

You have initiated the process of "LINE-UP" of premium students, for other Team-members to follow. That was superb, especially the OW Sectoral focus report dt. 11.8.07, inspite of coverage of one center.

Accolades to you and your Team-Centres.

Best wishes,

Operation Workout: Prioritization is needful

Hi,

Indeed it is a good beginning to have three comments for the message posted on SSA/SPAs

Leni mam, strengthen your Team-Centres, and note that there could be no communication gap amongst all dealing with OW and SSA/SPAs

The momentum and understanding as initiated by Team - Kottayam in the direction of SSA/SPAs reflects right approach and focus

Anonymous posting...
"I am finding difficult to finalise numerous companies within stipulated timeframe due to non-clarity on timing issue, and how many companies would find it suitable to recruit our students on timings suitable to us and not to them" The ultimate solution to your apprehension is upto your maturity...first channel all SSA/SPAs you generate towards offering corporate interface to the premium category of SEM III students, priority in focus is what is needful...where there is a will, there is the way...please see that whatever is done is duly reported to your ROs

Operation Workout: SSA & SPAs difference

Hi all,

The Director has clarified the difference between SSA & SPA

SSA: It is just a short selling assignment, provided by corporate/company to our students to carry out a specific task, for which our students receive little remuneration.

SPA: It means short paying assignment, provided by corporate/company to our students to carry our specific task, for which our students receive little remuneration. It differs from an SSA on the point that, all SPAs are based on focused exercises, that reinforce classroom learning, and are related to the topics taught in the classroom.

So, if SSA has dominantly a selling component, SPAs aims primarily at enhancing the knowledge component and reinforcing classroom learning, and thereby impart sectoral focus to topics/concepts taught. This means providing considerable exposure to our students in their chosen sectors, and their easy placement in the same, in the later day.
