colloborative operation workout on CHAK DE INDIA !!

Name : Ms.Kavita Sashidharan
Centre : INC Vizag.
Region : A.P-East

Creation of an Blog dedicated to showcase the various operation workout is really an innovative idea and actually is very useful platform to share operation workout experiences.
I would thus like to use the blog to showcase one such operation workout experience of mine.

TOPIC :

The movie “CHAK DE INDIA ”was used as an operation workout variable for the above said reasons .

LEARNINGS FROM STUDENTS POINT OF VIEW:

As a faculty member at INC Vizag, I handle subjects like Marketing Communication Strategy ,Corporate Communication and Marketing .
I normally deal with situations/concepts wherein aspects of communication, communication strategy, components of a communication strategy ,the make of a good communication stategy, need to design an effective strategy, the link between communication and a selling situation ,essence of communicating as a corporate,a corporate’s need to communicate to all stakeholders (ext and int) ,reputation management, image building through communication.

The movie and its contents acted as the perfect platform to get across the same ideas in a very effective ,visually satisfying manner to the students

The team leader’s role was all the more attractive since it was KING KHAN delivering the message thus allowing me to deliver on deciphering the effect of CELEBRITY ENDORESEMENTS.

The movie is a classic example of the various strategies a marketer should actually be devising and using to successfully sell his preconceived concept in order to create a purchase situation .It’s any ones guess that ,a concept if has to be sold has to be packaged with the right ingredients at the right time in the right and most appropriate way- this is precisely what can be understood from the role of a team leader and team in the context of the movie.

UNIQUE FINDINGS OF THE EXERCISE :

The movie - the stance used by the team leader/manager who acts the yeoman is synonymous with the marketer’s stance while engineering attraction to an fact /situation that was unknown or not heard of until then.
The movie very rightly indicates how a team leader/coach has to be a visionary and be the one who to be able to identify the core competencies of each of his team player and assign tasks based on unique individual competencies.Nuances of need for coordination, team spirit, subordination of individual goal for fulfillment of organizational goals and motivation are aptly dealt.
This are just few of the learning that the movie can deliver, there are many more which I wanted my students to understand ,using the canvass/backdrop of the movie.

COLLOBORATION/COLLABORATIVE EXERCISE :

I conducted a collaborative-integrative workout wherein 2/3 subjects like organizational behaviour, training and development, human resource management ,basic management principle were clubbed to help result in multidimentional versatile learning among the students.
In fact the students have submitted a report on the movie review ,by virtue of the rich source of information and learning that has been derived,I am planning to work further on the subject and use it for intellectual capital development.

This exercise has truly been an enriching experience ,so I thought I might as well share it with all of you out there.
Do feel free to put up your comments on this exercise.

Regards,
Ms.Kavita Sashidharan.

OWE: Students Reporting !

INC ZO, KOLKATA

To: INC East: All OWE Coordinators, All Academic Coordinator, All Soft Skill Trainers
From: DP Chaudhuri, INC ZO, Kolkata
Sub: Suggested format for submission of OWE Reports by our students
Date: September 06, 2007

The OWE coordinators and the faculty members are requested to consider the followings:

(a) Please do not insist on typed OWE reports. The students are required to submit hand-written report. This will enhance their writing skills, improve the hand-writing and reduce the cost.

(b) The OWE report preferably should not exceed more than two pages (except the data sheet/s)

(c) During presentation of the OWE report, the students may use powerpoint slides, or use the “chalk & board” to present the findings – the concerned faculties may decide on this.

The OWE Coordinators are requested to suggest improvement on this.
A proposed format for OWE Report (to be submitted by the students) is given below for consideration.

Please feel free to contact us for any clarification.

SAMPLE: OWE REPORT
(To be submitted by the students)

Title of the OWE
Names of the participating faculty members and the students

1. Synopsis: This is the summary. This contains the objective of the OWE and the outcome of the exercise.

2. Introduction: This gives the objective of the OWE in details. This mentions the textbook concept (taught in the classroom) which has been clarified by this OWE.

3. Methods & Methodology: In this area, the student describes the methods / methodology employed during the OWE. This may contain the methods how the data are collected, the time spent on the field to collect data, the questionnaire used, how data collection was planned, etc.

4. Data: The student submits the data collected during the OWE.

5. Interpretation: The collected data are analysed by the student to come. The student interprets the data to reach a logical conclusion.

6. Conclusion: The student submits his or her recommendation on how the Result of the OWE may be utilized. Two steps are to be followed:
(a) Application of the conclusion: The OWE offers a conclusion.
How this conclusion or the result may be used by an industry
– where this result may be applied.
(b) Benefit of application: If the result is applied, what benefits may be derived.

Suggestions are invited from the stakeholders !

Some of the highlights of this SPA are Participation by 236 students (Sem – I and III ) of various INC Centers and collected data form of more than 5000 respondents. This is a paid assignment and for this survey the students will be paid Conveyance and DA (Rs. 1.35 lakhs approx) after the submission of reports.

SPA INC Tirupur TN(W)

Dear All,

"
Apart from my SIP experience I learnt about the customized marketing which is the current mantra for the marketers. There is a difference between the local market and the Metro cities. I learnt the tactics to break the ice and make my sales possible. - A.Veena, SEM III. INC Tirupur

What more proof do we need to confirm the vital contribution of SSA/SPAs in reinforcing INC students learning, and preparing them for placements.

Best wishes,

Sanjay Nannaparaju

SPA – Short Paying assignments

SPA is a kind of operation Workout for the students. Students are given a specific product or concept to sell in the market, which would enhance them to be familiar with the current scenario and help them to acquire knowledge and exposure in this modern trend. For each assignment students will be paid based on their performance. This will definitely serve as a value addition for their Résumé. This also ensures the positive mindset from the employers’ side, which is the sign of employability. And students gain self confidence in the grounds of their skill set and academic qualification.

Students of INC Tiruppur (both I Year and II year) have taken Short Paying Assignment from Reliance General Insurance; Tiruppur. Here is a Bird Eye view on the Assignment

OPERATION HEALTH STROM

The SPA is focused on the Mediclaim policy offered by the company. And thus the activity is named as Operation Health Strom. Both the First and final year students were involved in this short paying assignment. All the students were enthusiastically involved in this operation. Especially the final year students, who opted for Insurance sector, found this as a second chance to prove their caliber. Mr.Jeyachandran, Sales Manager addressed the students about this operation. He explained the concept and motivated the students to take part effectively. Each student was given a target of five policies in two days. All the students of INC Tiruppur have participated.(I MBA -55 Students; II MBA – 12 Students). From the I MBA four students have altogether done ten policies. From the II MBA Ms.A.Veena has done eight policies and Ms.N.Sumitha has done two policies.Ms.Veena’s involvement and contribution is highly appreciated from the company side, and she will be provided with the certificate along with the commission worth Rs.800.

II MBA

It is again a wonderful opportunity for me to sharpen my selling skills. Apart from my SIP experience I learnt about the customized marketing which is the current mantra for the marketers. There is a difference between the local market and the Metro cities. I learnt the tactics to break the ice and make my sales possible.

Ms.BHANUMATHY

As a fresh hand, I consider this SPA as a gate way to the industry. I learnt about the concept selling. Mr.Prabhu guided me in lot many ways to sell policies. This helped me to be familiar with the selling process. I hope this will help me for my SIP.
